You Can't Do It Alone
Honestly, you can’t. In a culture that views strength and independence as interchangeable, it is so easy to approach our biggest dreams on our own. After all, you are the one that gets to make those decisions that change your life. You are the only person that can get yourself out of bed and into the gym.
But here’s the thing. Without the encouragement and support of a community, chances are when you lose your momentum, you will call it quits. I have seen this time and time again in my own life and in the lives of those around me. You set a goal and a month later you can’t even remember the goal you had set in the first place.
Within the past two months, my entire life has changed. I have kept the promises I have made to myself and challenged myself to really take steps that will get me to the life I dream of, no matter how big or small. I have tried working on personal goals in the past, and while I have always been very goal-oriented, in my personal life, my goals always fell to the back burner.
So what changed? I found a community. People that are on a similar journey. I have a list of people I know that are also goal-oriented that can hold me accountable and challenge me. I surround myself by those who are taking control of their lives. They inspire me to be better, to work smarter and to challenge myself each and every day, even when I don’t feel like it.
I consider myself to be strong and independent. But I am also smart enough to recognize that I can’t reach my goals on my own. Yes, I am the one that will get me where I want to go. I am the one that needs to put in the work but I need help getting there too.
We are about to enter 2020 (obviously). And we have all seen the “New Year, New Me” posts circulating on social media. Posts that encourage goals and posts that make fun of them. But I’d encourage you rather to focus on the idea of “New Day, New Life.” Each day you really can start fresh. You really can accomplish your goals, especially when you find “your people” to help you.
Now maybe you’re thinking, “This is all great and dandy, but I am literally the only person I know that has big dreams. Everyone I’m around is content or too busy to even think about something bigger.”
WELL, you’re in luck! (Do I sound like a car salesman, yet? If so, great. That was my goal.) For the first time, ever, I will be working with 3 individuals in 2020 to help them reach their goals and create a new life for themselves. And since I have no real experience in this it is FREAKING FREE. But here’s the catch. When I work to change the lives of 3 people, next time, it won’t be free. This is your chance. Your chance, if you’re serious, to really change your life. Not for 2020, but forever.
